The first Medieval Carnivale was held in 1995, and the event continues to grow as each year passes.  The Carnivale represents a celebration of the richness of our vital, diverse and active community; along with its wealth of talent and creativity in all fields of the arts . . . . . and it's a great day out for the whole family!

The event is held in the grounds of the Balingup Community Centre (Balingup Woods).  This is located on Brockman Street directly opposite the Balingup Blackwood River Tavern, and behind the Balingup Village Green.

Both days are full of entertainment, and many of our "wouldn’t miss it, come every year" entertainers will be there again. Tulips abound during the month of August, and provide a colourful backdrop for the fun filled Medieval Carnivale.  grand paradeMedieval stall holders are also on hand to provide visitors with food, drink and a variety of irresistible merchandise.

For accommodation why not try one of the local inns (B&Bs) or castles (cottages) or ring the Balingup Visitor Centre on 9764 1818.

As banks are few and far between in this historic region, we suggest you fill up your purse with gold and silver before getting on your trusty steed! Please note that there will be a small admission charge to enter the castle walls - this is to ensure that the Carnivale is sustainable and grows bigger and better each year.
