History of BADSA

badsa

In 1982, the Balingup Tennis and Bowling Clubs were struggling to maintain their individual premises and came up with the idea of creating a new sporting complex.  After countless meetings and a huge fundraising campaign, the community managed to raise 'our share' of the money required to construct the Recreation Centre . . . $80,000.  The first fundraising activity was to cut over 10,000 post and rails (with local farmers supplying trucks, tractors and manpower).  This raised $10,000.

More funds were raised by:
· cutting and selling huge amounts of firewood, and
· holding raffles and meals nights.

It took a major community effort to raise the initial funds, but it didn't stop there. The enthusiastic BADSA committee has constantly been chasing grants and funding to maintain and improve the building.
